Meet Opossum

Opossum arrived to the Rescue Ranch in August after the home he was living in with 20+ other dogs was condemned. With the help of animal control and other rescues the dogs were moved to safety. We brought Nimh & Opossum into the Rescue Ranch.

Opossum was missing most of his fur and his skin was painfully infected. His toenails were so long they were curving into the pads of his feet. He also had a painful ear infection. Luckily Opossum was heartworm negative and we were able to immediately address his other concerns.

Opossum’s skin has cleared up nicely now that the fleas have been removed and he’s completed a round of antibiotics. He even has some hair coming back! His toenails have been trimmed and each time they are able to be cut a bit shorter. He’s finished up his ear drops. Opossum is on a daily anti-inflammatory medicine for spondylosis of the spine and the medicine has made him feel so much better. He went from barely being able to walk to running and playing and being full of sass.

Opossum was quickly a hit in his foster home where he gets along well with other dogs, cats, and even pigs! He picked up house training very quickly.  Opossum is snuggly and affectionate. He’s playful and funny and silly. He’s between 8 to 10 years old, heart worm negative, neutered, and microchipped. He weighs about 13 lbs. Opossum will do well in most any home and is ready to be adopted.
